Italy finally celebrates another victory, Poland has to leave the League A of the Nations League after only three matches. A former Bundesliga player scores for Russia.

The Polish national football team has been chosen as the first relegated team from the highest league of the Nations League. Bayern striker Robert Lewandowski’s team lost 0-1 (0-0) to Italy in Chorzów. AC Florence’s Cristiano Biraghi scored the Italian goal in injury time (90 minutes + 2 minutes).

It was only the second victory in the last eleven games for Roberto Mancini’s side. The 53-year-old had assumed the post of national coach after missing out on qualifying for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

In the match in Poland, Italy were already unlucky before the late goal when Jorginho (1.) and Lorenzo Insigne (30.) scored their battens – The decision about winning the group and entering the final round from 5 to 9 June 2019 is now between European champions Portugal and Italy.

Russia – Turkey 2:0 (1:0)

Former Bundesliga professional Roman Neustädter has led the Russian national football team to its second victory in the Nations League. The former Mainzer, Gladbacher and Schalker scored the leading goal against Turkey 2:0 (1:0) in the 20th minute. For the Fenerbahce Istanbul pro, it was the first goal in the national team’s jersey in Sochi. Denis Cheryshev (78th) made everything clear for the home side in half two.

The host of the World Cup is leading Group 2 of the B Division with seven points ahead of Turkey (three points), who had already lost the first leg against the Russians 1:2. Coach Stanislav Cherchessov’s team will be able to make it to the A-League against Sweden on 20 November. Five days earlier, the Russians were guests of the German national team at a friendly match in Leipzig.

Romania – Serbia 0:0

The Serbian national team has taken another step towards promotion to the B-League. The team of the former Bundesliga pro Mladen Krstajic scored 0:0 with the sharpest group rival Romania and thus remained without defeat in the fourth group game. With eight points, the Serbs lead Group 4 ahead of unbeaten Romania, who are two points down.

The Romanians, who had a Bundesliga legionnaire in the starting eleven in Alexandru Maxim of FSV Mainz 05, had to make do with one man less from the 45th minute onwards. Gabriel Tamas saw the red card after a foul in the penalty area, but Dusan Tadic missed the penalty in injury time (45.+1) in the first half. The visitors with Milos Veljkovic from Werder Bremen and Mijat Gacinovic from Eintracht Frankfurt in their ranks, however, could not use the majority after the break to their advantage.
